Golden Milk: a 5 Minute, 4 Ingredient, £3 Miracle

February 12, 2018

Every time we come back to uni, there’s something called ‘freshers flu’ that makes the round.

(Or for second semester, ‘re-freshers flu’).

And let me tell you, the struggle is real.

(Plus, no one wants a sniffly Valentine…)

I’d been feeling on the brink of getting sick for days UNTILLLL I started making golden milk.

Yes, golden milk.

You might have seen versions of this on your favourite celebrity’s Instagram or in wellness newsletters (don’t forget to sign up for mine ?). Golden milk is basically just a simpler turmeric latte but with some added health magic from ginger, honey or whatever else you stick in there.

It only takes 5 minutes, 4 ingredients, and £3 to make.

And it. is. so. good.

And simple!

All you need are four things:

+ turmeric
+ honey
ginger
+ your favourite milk
(I used coconut but oat milk would probably be really good too!)

In case you haven’t jumped on the turmeric band-wagon, here why even Starbucks now has a turmeric latte.

+ anti-inflammatory
This means it helps your body fight off foreign ~things~ that could make you sick or just not feeling your best.

+ balances tummy issues
Because it’s anti-inflammatory, tons of people swear by

turmeric’s healing abilities when it comes to any stomach issues.

+ immune boosting
It has strong antioxidants and helps your body make more of its own enzymes to fight off other gro
ssness.

+ mood helper and more
A few studies have shown that turmeric can even help boost your mood…. along with a few studies saying that is can help with arthritis, heart disease and cancers. Can’t hurt to try some right?

The ginger in golden milk is also super potent and magical. Ginger is known to also be anti-inflammatory and wicked at helping fight infection.

Did I mention how easy this is to make?! You probably already have at least half of the ingredients!

1. Put a mug’s worth of milk and ginger (two slices should do) in

a pan and heat it up. Don’t let it bubble yet).

2. Add a teaspoon of turmeric and stir.

3. Let the milk simmer for five minutes.

4. Stir in a teaspoon of honey once it’s all back in your mug.

How easy is that?!

Obviously, if you want to make it more or less gingery, add more or less. Same for the honey.

Well, I’m off to go make my second cup because I’m so not in the mood to get sick.

What are your go-to remedies to stop a cold in its tracks?
