My Night Routine (Not Just Another Morning Routine)

January 16, 2017

I’m sure you’ve read about a million blog posts about morning routines.

(Even I’ve done a post on my perfect morning).

So today let’s chat about the other end of the day: night routines.

I feel like having a night routine doesn’t get a lot of attention. This is probably because people are often doing so many different things day to day when it comes to night-time. I know I definitely am not good at having a consistent bedtime as my night-time activities range from falling asleep at 9pm, working until 10pm or going out with friends until who-knows-when.

But regardless, I’ve found that whenever I do get home, I’ve settled into a little night routine.

First, I change into my pjs (this usually just a big tshirt and underwear, no pants are the best pants amiright?). If I’m hanging out with my flatmates, I’ll throw on some leggings for decency. For those colder autum and winter nights I’ll also throw something on that’s a little more cozy such as one of my various onesies, there’s been many a time in the past where I’ve stayed up a little to laugh all night with friends while snuggled wearing something extremely comfy to enjoy the night in.

My go-to are Girlfriend Collective leggings (literally the best leggings I’ve ever had).

Second, I usually lounge around for a bit and wait to get sleepy. This usually involves watching something with my flatmates (we’ve started watching WWE Raw and Smackdown together hehe) or just reading with some candles in my bed. And tea. Lots of tea.

My current reads are Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel and Island by Aldous Huxley.
Egyptian Licorice Mint Yogi tea is also a necessity.

Third, once I’m tried enough, I use my last bits of energy for my beauty routine. Because I usually shower as soon as I get up in the morning, this routine is pretty minimal. I start by just brushing my hair and teeth. Maintaining a high standard of dental health is a top priority for many. A visit with a Dentist Orlando will help you to know what areas of your dental care routine need to be changed and whether or not any procedures may be necessary. If you keep up with your appointments, your Dentist Sarasota can recognise signs of potential dental problems that if left untreated will become more severe futher down the line.

My must-haves are a Conair paddle brush and a Philips Sonicare 2 Series electric toothbrush (it’s so compact!).

Lastly, I use makeup/face wipes right before bed. Because I wash/exfoliate my face in the shower the next morning, the wipes are perfect for simply quickly removing makeup to prevent waking up looking like a racoon and scaring my poor boyfriend.

My favourite wipes include: Alba 3-in-1 Clean Towelettes or Yes To Cucumbers Facial Towelettes.

After the candles are blown out and the window is cracked open an inch, I’m off to dreamland (after checking that my alarm is actually on, of course).

Also, I’ll admit that not every night ends up like this. Sometimes there’s a late dinner or I’m suddenly motivated to go study at 11pm (I know, I’m a weirdo). But having a night routine is a really nice way to wind-down from my day and I love feeling clean and relaxed before bed.

Do you have a night routine?
